Autumn is such a beautiful season. The leaves are changing color and falling to the ground. The sun is shining brightly and there’s a crispness in the air. A perfect Autumn day is a perfect day for a wedding. But what music to choose?
Many brides with Autumn weddings choose music that’s subdued compared to what you might hear in spring and summertime ceremonies. It seems to be a good time of year to be a little more reserved. If you have a Fall wedding planned, you don’t have to choose this approach, but you might think about it.
If something more subdued is what you want, here are some musical suggestions for you.
You can mix and match with music that’s more bright and majestic for an effect that’s only slightly subdued. As always, make your choices according to the moods and styles you want (see “The Secret to Making Your Wedding Uniquely Yours”).

Another idea for Fall weddings
Something else you might try for a Fall wedding is to choose one or two pieces based on the hymn “Now Thank We All Our God”, a favorite hymn often used for Thanksgiving.
This hymn isn’t limited to use at Thanksgiving and pieces using this melody can be used in weddings year-round. But because so many people associate the melody with this holiday, a Fall wedding is a particularly good time to consider this melody.
Many composers have written arrangements of this hymn.
That’s it…for now

These are very helpful suggestions, especially for that thematic bride! Many of the options will depend on the organist’s ability and arrangement. Another piece is Leo Sowerby’s “Come Autumn Time.” Anyone else out there have autumn, Christmas, or winter wedding music suggestions?
