Getting Started

Getting StartedFeeling stuck? Have all sorts of ideas for your wedding ceremony spinning around in your head, but not sure how to make sense of it all?

These first steps can be difficult for many people. It’s also easy to be overwhelmed by all the details you have swarming around in your mind.

Here’s how to get your wedding ceremony music planning started…

Get your lists started

As you start thinking about your ceremony, write down your ceremony ideas.

This accomplishes several things.

First, it “de-stresses” your mind. You’ll stop carrying ideas around in your mind which are just itching to get out. Putting them down on paper will reduce your anxiety.

It also gives you something concrete to refer to and work from.

Figure out which items on this list are important or even critical to your wedding ceremony.

Some ideas will be and some won’t.

In an earlier similar article, I gave some ideas for things you might consider essential to your wedding (see “Make Important Decisions Before Planning Your Ceremony Music”).

Focus on the important

Once you can see on paper what’s important to you, you can start focusing on those items. And you can avoid spending time working on the aspects that aren’t important to you.

After all, you want to work first on the things that are important, right?

Your vision for the ceremony will be come clear

This narrowing down of your ideas helps your vision of the ceremony take shape. And when you have a clear vision of what you want, you can also communicate it to those around you.

And then…guess what? People are better able to help you because they’ll also be able to visualize what you want!

What needs to be done will become clear

By having what’s important to you written down and by being focused on those things, you will have a much better understanding of what is taken care of and what is not as the wedding day nears.

You’ll also have fewer moments of uncertainty.

The end game

In the weeks leading up to the ceremony, think about how wonderful it will be to have all your important items from the list checked off!

How exciting will that feel?
